A truly wonderful walk in the WWF Oasis of Valle della Caccia, following the waterways.
The first part of the route, inside the WWF oasis, takes you to the stunning Acquabianca waterfall along a family-friendly, well-kept and well-maintained trail: a true earthly paradise.
Heading back, you then continue along a beautiful 2.5 km trail that leads to the Grotta Profunnata cave: well looked after, with a safety fence and a lovely fountain halfway along. Along the way you can admire enchanting natural scenery, among various karst formations, through pure and mixed woodland of Mediterranean scrub, with sub-montane vegetation, partly skirting the slope of the “Trientale” ravine
The trail ends at an altitude of 955 m above sea level, near the entrance to the “Grotta Profunnata” and the extraordinary view from the “belvedere” (viewpoint).
The cave is impressive: beyond the narrow entrance, wide chambers open up to explore, with one section that requires climbing (only for the most experienced!).
To visit it, torches and helmets are mandatory.
