Cammina con noi 2026 – Alta Via dei Monti Lattari: the journey in six episodes
From 31 May to 2 June 2026 we walked the Alta Via dei Monti Lattari once again – CAI trail 300 – with the 2026 edition of Cammina con noi (Walk with us): three days and about 72 km on foot, from the Abbey of Cava de’ Tirreni to Punta Campanella.
We told the journey in six video episodes, two for each stage, published on our YouTube channel. Here they all are, in order, to watch one after the other.
Stage 1 – Abbey of Cava › Valico di Chiunzi
31 May 2026 · 23 km
Episode 1 – Dawn and the Avvocata
At 5:38 a.m. we set off from the Abbey of Cava de’ Tirreni. The climb through the woods at dawn, the Gulf of Salerno in the morning light, the summit of Monte dell’Avvocata with the Amalfi Coast at our feet and the Sanctuary of the Avvocata.
Episode 2 – Along the ridges to Chiunzi
From the Avvocata viewpoint the trail follows the ridge, among limestone rocks and Mediterranean scrub, with the sea always below us. At noon the south summit of Monte Finestra, a stop at the bivouac, the summit cross above the Gulf of Salerno and the descent through the ferns to the Valico di Chiunzi.
Stage 2 – Valico di Chiunzi › Santa Maria del Castello
1 June 2026 · 25 km
Episode 3 – Above the clouds
From the Valico di Chiunzi we head for the highest peaks of the Lattari. Clouds rise from the sea and wrap the mountain; at 9:50 a.m. the first summit of the day, Monte Cerreto, with Monte Molare ahead of us. And along the way, new travel companions join us.
Episode 4 – The sea of clouds
In the afternoon we climb towards Monte Molare, the roof of the Monti Lattari, among beeches, rocks and fog. The highest point of our walk is Monte Conocchia: out of the woods the mountain opens onto a sea of clouds, with the islands and Vesuvius. Then the long descent to Santa Maria del Castello.
Stage 3 – Santa Maria del Castello › Punta Campanella
2 June 2026 · 24 km
Episode 5 – Towards the sea
We set off again with Positano below us. Monte Comune among meadows, broom and fog, while the signpost warns: Punta Campanella, eight hours and forty minutes. Then the descent, with the Piana di Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples ahead of us and the Li Galli islands.
Episode 6 – All the way to Punta Campanella
In the last kilometres the coast turns wild: the island of Isca, the descent to the sea at Recommone, the climb back above the Bay of Ieranto with Capri ever closer. At 6:04 p.m. we reach Punta Campanella: the tower, the lighthouse and Capri opposite. Three days, seventy-two kilometres: a different experience every time.
